TL;DR:26F interested in 36M coworker (different dept, limited overlap, slight power difference, 10-year age gap). We have a good vibe but nothing has happened. Thinking of asking him out casually—should I go for it or wait?
-----
I (26F) have a coworker (36M) that I’m starting to like, and I’m unsure if I should ask him out.
We work in different departments and have different shifts, so we don’t see each other often.
But when we do interact, it feels natural — he sometimes goes out of his way to talk to me, remembers small things (like snacks I brought), and is generally thoughtful but also cautious (e.g., didn’t give a small gift because he didn’t want to make me uncomfortable).
We recently talked more at a company event and got along really well, but nothing has happened since.
I’m technically at a higher level (manager), but not his direct supervisor.
Because we don’t see each other much, I feel like if I don’t do anything, it’ll just fade. I’m thinking of casually asking him out for a drink (nothing serious, just low-pressure). He also mentioned that it would be nice to go for drinks again, but nothing has happened since.
Would that be a bad idea in this situation? Or better to wait and see if he makes a move?
